Delivering the best care to our patients matters. Whether this is provided in the prehospital or in-hospital environment it is based on solid foundations and shared learning. Sedation is best delivered in a team-based approach, with all members familiar with its intricacies.
Sedation forms a key part of the management of critically unwell and injured patients. To deliver excellent care in sedation we need expert preparation, an understanding of pharmacology and the knowledge of how to tailor practice to individual patients. As well as these key aspects, we also need the ability to manage any potential complications and to ensure the patient recovers safely to be discharged home.
